Molina Lario - A refined 4-star hotel with rooftop pool, historic charm, and cathedral views

Molina Lario occupies two renovated 19th-century buildings and a modern extension, featuring 103 urban-chic rooms with Standard rooms in the contemporary wing and Superior rooms in the historic section, many with original balconies overlooking the street or cathedral. The hotel's Matiz restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with Andalusian influences, offering breakfast buffets, à la carte lunches, and tasting menus paired with local wines, while the 8th-floor rooftop hosts a seasonal chill-out bar and pool with panoramic city views. Located steps from Malaga Cathedral, the Roman Theater, and Alcazaba, Molina Lario provides six conference rooms, a business center, and 24-hour room service, along with monthly flamenco performances in its central courtyard.

Pros

The rooftop pool and terrace offer unobstructed views of Malaga's cathedral and harbor.

Matiz restaurant features live music and a courtyard with Mediterranean-inspired tasting menus.

Superior rooms retain historic details like high ceilings and street-facing balconies.

Proximity to major landmarks, including Picasso Museum (300m) and Alcazaba (500m).

Cons

The rooftop pool and bar operate seasonally, limiting year-round access.

Street-facing rooms may experience noise due to the central location.

the location is excellent, a very comfortable hotel. staff went out of their way to help us with every detail of our stay. i did like the friendly staff, it was really nice.
it was very expensive for what we got. the room was nice, but i weren't expecting a shower in a bath in a modern hotel. i asked if we could go up and watch the fireworks from the roof terrace, but the receptionist told us it was closed.
