The Cumberland Hotel enjoys a fantastic seafront location, perfect for accessing the beach and exploring the town, including its theatres and shopping centre, all within a short walk. Guests often praise the spacious and clean rooms, with some appreciating the hotel's Art Deco features and the comfortable lounge area where you can enjoy drinks with waterfront views. Mixed Feelings About My Stay

damp patches outdated furniture
The staff were helpful .
The room was very outdated with mismatched furniture and damp patches on the wall. The tv's last safety check was in 2022! My room wasn't properly cleaned every day. It was disappointing.

A reasonably good stay

ocean view buffet breakfast airy dining room old furniture shabby headboard no sockets
The single room was well-modernized. It also had fresh decor. I had a lovely ocean view. The buffet breakfast was excellent and set in a modernized, airy dining room.
The furniture looked very old. It looked like it had been repainted white several times. The headboard was shabby. there were no sockets nearby.

I noticed quite a few maintenance issues. The bathroom had a leaky faucet I reported, it dripped all night. It made sleep difficult despite the otherwise quiet atmosphere of the hotel. The staff acknowledged the faucet but said repairs were scheduled later in the week.
