Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The White Horse & Griffin enjoys a superb location right in the heart of Whitby, making it easy to stroll to the main attractions, including the 199 steps. Guests often find themselves in spacious rooms, sometimes even suites, equipped with comfortable king-size beds, tea/coffee facilities, and fresh milk, though some rooms may have steep access stairs. Many appreciate the traditional full English breakfast, which includes vegetarian options and is considered good value for money. The building's historic charm is a highlight, with its 'wonky' floors adding to its unique character.

Historic Stay Above the Harbour

great location historic bar several choices helpful staff
The location provided easy access to many attractions. I found the bar to be historic and full of charm. Breakfast provided several choices. The staff was helpful . They accommodated my early check in request. I also left my bags after check out with no problems.
I found the mattress to be a little firm. This is only my personal preference. It did not largely detract from my stay.
Dining
9/10
Breakfast offers several choices that include kippers. The restaurant offers traditional British fare. I found the bar served drinks at reasonable prices. The dining area looked cosy.
Facilities
8/10
The hotel features a very old building. The narrow bar area is part of this structure. I had easy access to the harbour. The hotel is right in the heart of the area.
Service
10/10
Staff were always helpful during my time here. I noticed the staff accommodated an early check in. Staff also allowed storing of bags after check out. I thought it was a very nice gesture.
